How To Join
Membership for the Squash Club will be £10 for the academic year 2010-11. Don’t worry if you missed the chance to sign-up at Freshers Fair, you can get in touch with one of the exec or just come down on Monday nights.
Your £10 membership will get you unlimited squash on club nights (Monday 6-9pm, Wednesday afternoons and Thursday nights for the squad). There are other costs that we cover with the £10 sign-up fee, some of these include:
- Social nights-out - during the 09/10 year, the club went on a few bar crawls, had a free Domino’s pizza night and an infamous ‘party at Jo’s’.
- Travel costs - During the Summer term is Roses (which is a huge sports competition between Lancaster University and York). When it is hosted by York, team travel costs will be taken out of subscription fees, unless provided by the Athetics Union. Travel costs for the Men’s 2nd team will also be covered by the fees as these are not provided by the AU.
- New equipment - Although the club has a lot of squash balls and other equipment in stock already, breakages are unavoidable over the course of the year and if need be, subscription fees will be used to fund new equipment purchases. The club DOES NOT have any squash rackets within the club, so club members do need to provide their own. You can, however, rent rackets from the sports centre.
In order to join the Squash Club you must have a LUSU Purple Card. You cannot sign up without your card number. Purple Cards can be bought at the LUSU Office (or you can get them during Freshers Week). In addition you need to have Sports Centre Membership (Standard or Premier)
Please contact us at lusquash@googlemail.com if you have any queries regarding membership.
We look forward to meeting you down at the courts!
