The Roses tournament is an annual competition that takes place between York and Lancaster in the Summer term and encompasses all the sports that both universities have to offer.

Lancaster usually enters two Men’s teams into the competition, giving some of the players on the fringe of the 1st team a chance to prove their ability in a serious tournament.

Our performance in the 2010 competition (at home) was a mixed bag really, with the seconds winning well, but the firsts losing. Our Women on the other hand finished their unbeaten season in style! We all still had a great weekend and the Men managed to shrug off their defeat after a few drinks!

Lancaster as a whole managed to dominate York, taking an early lead that was never lost, and so early on Sunday morning, it was confirmed that Roses 2010 was won by Lancaster!

Rose’s 2011 promises to be a big one, this time away at York, with the overall Roses score at York 23 - 22 Lancaster!
